Is DT Ignite Really Bad?

DT Ignite refers to the system program running in the background which allows other carriers to install the apps of the sponsors /advertisers, advertise on the carrier phone without their permission and install apps of the sponsors.

It combines the Ads and Mobile application platform to deliver technologically advanced delivery where it caters to advertising and mobile delivery.

The advertising platform is developed in the manner to reach more customers with the ads for App developers.

This lasts for the life span of the device where the DT technology bridges the advertisers and the app developers with the customers of the world. This places the apps directly into the device instead of local app stores.

The mobile delivery platform can increase its revenue share through data usage for sponsoring advertisements. The carriers advertise directly on phone through the pop-up messages, emails, notifications, and others.

It works in the background and is more like spamming the phone with advertisements and silent loading of the carrier phone where the apps are installed without notifying the owners of the device phone.

The mobile services manager also works as a monitoring tool and uses a lot of data on the phone without the consent or even the knowledge of the user. This increases the overall data usage bill.

This is a kind of bloatware, which is mentioned as the program that slows down the system, uses a lot of memory of the device and takes a lot of processing power. The hardware requirement of running it is more than previous versions of the app as it introduces the new versions with cosmetic improvements.

It has a very high efficiency at the preloading and post-loading phases, and its ultimate goal is to increase the ad revenue of the service provider for installing irrelevant apps on the customer’s device without their knowledge, permission, and consent.

Such an app may not stop even on uninstalling because every time the phone is restarted the apps are loaded and it bloats the data usage bill of the customers.

Verizon introduced the latest DT Ignite mobile services manager where it said the users who have already taken S7 may not get it without their permission. The software will remain active during the initial set up in a new device and only in case the device undergoes the factory reset.

The software will not be pushed on to users to install or run in the background without the permission of the user. The latest version will be removable and could be uninstalled anytime.

  • This can be a problem when the device is not connected to Wi-Fi.

  • It uses data without the knowledge of the user and there are no settings that can limit it from interfering with the functions of the device.
