GDPR Impact of Cloud Services

The concept of a multi-level hybrid cloud will be common by 2020 when the customers are benefited from private and public cloud services. The system will, moreover, ease the transfer of IT data and legacies to secure and efficient hybrid systems, where space will be offered on-demand – which will allow companies to make use of scalable storage and utilities, ensuring growth.

Such systems will be great at risk-averse and remain fully committed to the requirement of the customers.  For it to work, the network between the business and cloud should be of superior quality.

  • It will benefit people with data storage infrastructures who want fast and straightforward integration with new technologies.

  • Google Cloud recently launched new features and solutions for content creators where animations were completed on virtual workstations as the technology partner BeBop managed various workstations.

  • These systems are suitable for growing mid-market firms as it provides unlimited resource utility and on-demand features.

  • Some providers give customised solutions in a hybrid cloud, which can fit the desired budget and combine cloud technologies with existing infrastructure effortlessly.

These systems offer low-cost implementation, development, integrations, and streamlining of existing business operations.  In addition, the firm can focus on enhancing productivity, as the new systems also support cloud printing on the client's networks, where the printing can be done through mobile devices.

The cloud hides the server management processes from the workstations and allocates resources on demand; hence, it is mostly a function as a service. It breaks up applications into functions, and rent is paid for the cloud only when the function runs.

Need for Cloud

Most companies handling several data servers across various geographical regions require duplicate data at various servers to handle operations constrained by server space and bandwidth.  As a result, every time a new file is created, it is stored at various locations where servers and storage space are wasted.

This de-duplication can be prevented by storing such information in the cloud instead of storing files, the case where files which are just 1 MB are stored several times, and its 100 copies (equivalent to 100 MBS) are transmitted onto the server.

The new system can prevent the duplication of such files.  The main purpose is to reduce storage space, transfer less data, improve security, and promote easy disaster recovery.

GDPR Compliance

The new regulations of the digital system and services also include the policies of GDPR (effective on 25 May 2018), where several new changes have been made.  The restrictions include -

  • Companies must comply with the regulation of GDPR, even if it is located outside the EU.

  • Data collected from customers should not be more than mentioned in the predefined purpose.

  • All the sensitive data should be categorised properly and managed in the cloud exclusively per the policies.

  • The client company will be held responsible for the violation of laws by the cloud service provider. Hence, the companies must safeguard their data and guarantee the cloud provider will follow the regulations mentioned in GDPR.

  • Also, the none-GDPR data and apps should be blocked, in case, of a mixed IT environment.

If the client company no longer needs the data, it should be removed from the cloud. Auditing of data can prevent inefficiencies of the company and enable proper streamlining with the new regulations.
